Are the sloths free-ranging through all of these trees? This looks like it might be a great sloth exhibit (for the sloths, if not for the viewing public).

Did you have a chance to go visit wild rain forest and habitats while in Bolivia devilfish?

Santa Cruz is actually within the sloths' natural range, so wild brown-throated (three-toed) sloths can be seen in green areas of the city, including at the zoo. I saw that a number of the sloths had coloured collars around their necks, and seemed like they might have been raised at the zoo - but I don't know how much involvement the zoo actually has.

Sloths were present throughout the zoo with no specific enclosure (the map just said 'perezosos en los arboles' [sloths in the trees]) - I can't remember off the top of my head what this paddock was meant for.

It was actually very easy to get close to sloths at the zoo. A number actually came quite close to the ground, and they were very approachable.

Unfortunately my trip was abruptly cut short in Bolivia, but we had already visited a number of wild habitats in Brazil, including five days in the Pantanal and a further five days in a rainforest lodge in the Amazon.
