Do they have elephant shrews or any other Afrotherian species on exhibit?
    • jbnbsn99
      I see three Afrotherians.
    • Maguari
Not a one - the elephants are the only Afrotherians on display.
    • Ituri
Three afrotherians, a xenarthran, a carnivoran, and a perissodactylid.
    • Chlidonias
so what is this sign even about anyway?
    • Maguari
My Czech isn't all it could be but unless I'm missing something it is literally 'spot the afrotherian' - the sign is outside the elephant house and is to guess what of these are the closest relatives of the big grey ones.

      The translation of the sign:

      Living relatives
Elephants belong into the order Proboscidea, that comprises two species - an african elephant and an asian elephant. The appearance of those two biggest land mammals differs from all other animals, yet they have two living close relatives. Can you guess which ones?
    • Ituri
Huh...guess that means they're working under old taxonomy and the elephant shrew wouldn't be considered a relative to the elephant!
    • Brum
I was thinking that, unless the sign is just outdated and they intend to update it?
