Steppe agama, eating cage-mate, 1 of 2

July 2016 In the excellent, large vivarium for a variety of desert animals (in the Cat House): a steppe agama - Trapelus sanguinolentus - captured and then, over the space of about 20 minutes, swallowed a smaller cage-mate (possibly a young steppe agama). This was rather exciting to witness!

Woof... Exciting to witness, sure, but I'm sure the zookeepers would have been rather horrified.
