Although I find the Bornean a more attractive species, Malu has grown into an impressive young male. Hopefully 2022 will bring him a female!

@Zoofan15 I talked to a volunteer and unfortunately there are no plans for a female anytime soon. They were a whole lot of volunteers monitoring Malu and Gabby as apparently mating had been witnessed despite the fact they’re half siblings.

@Jambo That’s a shame. Interesting to hear of Malu and Gabby mating though. Gabby has had a partial hysterectomy, so no fear of offspring; but Wanita at Auckland has always been ignored by the males because of her lack of reproductive viability. I guess unlike the males Auckland’s had, Malu hasn’t got a lot of options!

@Zoofan15 they don’t have enough space at the moment to import a new female and then expect offspring. Long term, a new enclosure will hopefully be built.
