Suspension Bridge, Lory Loft - Jurong Bird Park

The entire walkway in Lory Loft is raised, between 6 to 12 metres above ground. This bridge is about 8 metres above ground. The planting in the aviary has also matured a lot. Most of the Australian plant species (eucalyptus, bottle brush etc) have been destroyed by the lories, and hardier local species have taken over.

That is a really cool looking bridge and very lush environment. I wonder if any zoo in the U.S. could ever build a narrow bridge like this, or if the lawyers would say no-no. (Probably wouldn't happen unless there was an alternate bypass that was ADA compliant, which is of course reasonable enough. For non-Americans, the letters stand for Americans with Disabilities Act, which legally requires reasonable public accomodation for wheelchairs, etc).

Hi Arizona Docent. While Singapore doesn't have an ADA, there is increasing government support for public areas to be disabled-friendly. For the Lory Loft, there is an alternative route with a steel bridge which bypasses the suspension bridge.
