      For an exhibit that is still quite new, that is a lot of stark, concrete 'brutalism'. Judging solely from this single image, the construction could have been done in the 1960s or 1970s!

      @snowleopard Welcome in Europe ;). There are quite a number of zoos in Europe that will easily use bare concrete, as opposed to a naturalistic approach, which in most cases only benefits the visitors anyway. It might be a cultural issue, but bare concrete is quite popular in no-nonsense countries like Switzerland, Denmark and others. It is sturdy and doesn't distract from the main zoo business: watching animals.

      @FunkyGibbon I do enjoy a bit of brutalist concrete. Seriously. The South Bank, including the National Theatre, in London; swathes of Sussex University; even The World of Birds building at the Bronx Zoo.... lovely!
