THE LAIR GREAT HALL

By all accounts LAIR is superb, with 49 exhibits and a modern, exciting approach to maintaining reptiles and amphibians in captivity. However, as great as LAIR seems to be I cannot wait to one day tour MOLA at Fort Worth Zoo in Texas. I was really impressed by the quantity of species on display at Fort Worth's old reptile complex, but MOLA has a staggering 30,000 square feet (compared to the 10,000 square feet of LAIR) and with 100 exhibits and a bewildering number of creatures it is truly a work of art. Other zoos with outstanding buildings for cold-blooded creatures includes Saint Louis (huge collection in a 1927 building) and Detroit (one building for reptiles and one for amphibians).
