Just checked for you, Bristol would be cheaper!

      Bristol

Birmingham New Street off-peak return to Bristol Temple Meads for one adult and one child is £85.35 - return bus from the train station to the zoo is a few quid, so call it roughly £90 for travel. Entry to the zoo, booked online, costs the following depending on whether it is peak-season, mid-season or low-season:

      Adult £10.00, Child £5.00
      Adult £15.00, Child £9.00
      Adult £19.00, Child £13.00

Depending on when you visited, and assuming you didn't book trains in advance (which would save money) this means a visit to Bristol would cost either £105, £114 or £122.

      Linton

Birmingham New Street off-peak return to Cambridge for one adult and one child is £92.10 - however it would be a 10 mile taxi ride to reach Linton Zoo from here, and the same to return to the train station. Given how much this would be likely to cost, you'd probably be spending more even WITHOUT the zoo entry :p which, for the record, would be £10.00 for one adult and £7.50 for one child.

      Linton's quolls definitely weren't a no-show on Saturday! :D

Really looking forward to seeing these - have seen one curled up asleep 20 years ago, but nothing more - that's near enough a lifer for practical purposes..!

Also, £85 return from Birmingham to Bristol?! And they wonder why everyone drives everywhere...

Grumble, grumble, nationalised railways, grumble, public service, grumble...

@TeaLovingDave the whole problem with going to Bristol/Linton is that it's a damn site cheaper to get to Chester and Blackpool (£198 for 2), with overnight board and free entry to Chester Zoo and free tickets to Blackpool SLC and Tower can't compare... Local coach company offer which does mean other trips can't compare. When I find another job s**t is going to change, it's just not a quick process. :( :p

@Maguari Somebody told me they were, possibly cushioning the blow? ;) And yeah, Bristol is stupidly expensive, yet quite cheap as a city.
