funny how most of the exhibits at Toronto are grass, but the elephants get the dirt/dry exhibit.

There are approximately 6 elephants in an exhibit that is probably 1.5 acres, and so they have trampled down everything in sight.

What did the zoo do with this space once the elephants left?

They filled it up with dirt and made it a giraffe exhibit, so very basic patch up, the exhibit and barn are not built for giraffes, but they see, to enjoy it as there is more as they have more space to run around with those long legs.
