Tropics trail- former Asian small-clawed otter exhibit

Strange that they took out this species just after they added a new climbing structure…

How come they removed the species?

Likely because this exhibit is quite inadequate for this species, or because the zoo couldn't afford to keep the species anymore. They MIGHT come back after this exhibit is renovated, but I somewhat doubt that will happen anytime soon

*Update* This exhibit is now home to a single male Burmese Brown Tortoise, a species even worse for this exhibit IMO.

@LionTamarin Likely for the same reasons as removing the ASCOs, financial issues.

@Dhole dude They filled in a lot of this exhibit's holes using soil and coconut husk fiber.
