Did anyone ever resolve what happened to the Cricket St Thomas Twiggy?
It has been said that this is her -- now over fifty. However, George Jacobs' book says she was shot soon after leaving Cricket.
George Jacobs also makes a throwaway remark in his book about beavers eating fish -- so he's not infallible [unless they really do & it's not very well known....]

      I found this
''Twiggy is a female Asian elephant. She was born in 1966 in Indias forests. In January 1975 she was kidnapped from the wild and smuggled to England as a baby. Because of her "bad temper" she was transferred to the Amersfoort Zoo in Netherlands (on November 30.1977) where she spent 15 years. According to the Belgrade zoo director Twiggy has killed her zoo keeper in Amersfoot ZOO and when Zoo workers wanted to euthanize her Belgrade zoo asked to take her. On October 15th 1990 Twiggy arrived in Belgrade Zoo. She was given on loan to Belgrade ZOO for mating (to be pair for the elephant named 'Boy'). Twiggy was not attracted to the elephant Boy-they just could not get along so they never mated. Just 7 years after Twiggy camed in to the zoo Boy died of foot cancer.Because of the sanctions toward former Yugoslavia, Twiggy was never sent back to Netherlands. She has been living alone since 1997.''

So this probably IS the Cricket St Thomas Twiggy.
HOW do you smuggle (even a small) elephant?
