Universeum - The Rain Forest
Universeum in Göteborg (Gothenburg) is a National Science Centre in Sweden, with exhibitions on physics, chemistry, space etc. But it also has a lot of nice zoological exhibits! It is a very exciting house, built on the slopes of a mountain and designed by the most well-known contemporary Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. The main attraction at Universeum is the four floor high South American Rainforest exhibition. It has one path that you follow, taking you up or down. The temperature is held at 26 degrees Celsius and the humidity is 100 percent. The path is wet and slippery. I have great trouble standing heat and could only endure about 10 or 15 minutes inside this exhibition. It is absolutely fantastic, though. Lots of fish tanks. Caymans and lizards. Also lots of free living animals monkeys, birds, frogs and butterflies. August 2009
