Vergel Safari Park walk through aviary

Residents include Sadle-billed Storks, Marabou, Southern Ground Hornbills, Curl-crested Guineafowl and White-backed Vulture. A combination that does not promote breeding of any of them. That said, the Marabous are fully-winged and breeding. There were two chicks on the nest being parent-reared.

Interesting mix. Won't there be safety issues, both between the birds and also with the visitors? Those birds mentioned can all inflict quite a bit of injury.

There didn't seem to be a problem. The birds kept well away from the visitors' area. I am sure that the Marabous would have a detrimental effect on the breeding of any of the other species in there though.
