water mocassin chapultepec zoo
cantils a close relative to cottonmouths and copperheads are more attractive.
Great picture, looks like in the wild.
@carlos55: I just noticed, that Chapultepec Zoo no longer keeps elephants. Do you know why? And do you know when the last elephant has left the collection (died)?
1. yes i like cantil more, but the water mocassin exhibit was nicer.
2. There are no more elephants at chapultepec, the last ones were moved to nearby san juan de aragon zoo, which has a more modern and larger installation for them. The move was made after one elephant fell into a moat in chapultepec and died from injuries. I believe the decision was correct. There is now a herd of eland in the old elephant exhibit. It is frequent to hear visitors ask where are the elephants ?
