The big new of 2003 in Zoo de la Flèche.
Situated a the center of the zoo, this big north-american complex called Yukon Valley is the home of 2 European brow bears and 1 female Kamchatka bear (Arrived from Antwerpen Zoo).
The exbibit (Maybe 1,5 acres) can be seen from five viewing points (Glass, underwater...) and a big platform. There are lots of waterfalls and rocks, a large river for swim and a fir forest. But better for visitors than for animals due to hotwire... ! Our french Russia\\\'s Grizzly Coast ! ;-)

This exhibit looks similar to the stellar exhibits for brown/grizzly bears at North American zoos such as Woodland Park, Northwest Trek, Greater Vancouver Zoo and Minnesota Zoo. It's great to see a bear habitat that is modern and not a damn pit or concrete grotto!:)

The problem is that the bears can't do anything in this beautiful enclosure : too many electric fences and no enrichment. As beautiful as bad for the animals

It's the same for the polar bears enclosure.

Maxime can confirm you this situation.

Yes, this enclosure is perfect for visitors but when you see the number of electric fences, it's just horrible : bears can just walk between the rocks and the trees, and their space is very small...We said the same thing in the "Polar Bear exhibit" photo, in the gallery.
