Scanned photo from my first visit in June 1999.

      White Rhinoceros exhibit.

It looks like a rhino has escaped the zoo and is wandering down the alleys of a quaint European village.

Or someone decided to keep a rhino in their garden.

I think there is now a kangaroo enclosure on this site.

Small but I liked this exhibit and glad to have been able to see it used for its original purpose; I returned in 2002 to find it housing Malayan Tapir and having been refurbished a lot.

I've been to Antwerp three times and the occupants of this paddock have downsized each time:

      1998: Southern White Rhino
      2002: Malayan Tapir
      2009: Red-necked Wallaby

I'm sure if I go back again it'll be field mice or something...

it now holds a pair of lowland anoa's, so no rodents in it, I will upload a photo.

And now it has been incorporated into the buffalo aviary. Now they keep rhino's in the cattle house and the buffaloes next to the rhino house. Personally I would have preferred them to house a single old white rhino in the aviary and keep the buffalo herd in the larger enclosure in front of the cattle house.
