ZOO Antwerpen - Aquaforum
The underwater viewing for the sea lion exhibit inside the Aquaforum in ZOO Antwerpen. The top part of the Aquaforum is only open during the 2-4 daily sea lion shows featuring a group of Californian sea lions (Zalophus californianus). This bottom part with underwater viewing is open at all times. The Aquaforum was originally built as a Dolphinarium as part of the Jubilee Complex which opened in 1968 to celebrate the zoos 125th anniversary (also including the Bird of Prey Aviaries, Nocturama and Carnivore exhibits). The last two bottlenosed dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) left for Duisburg Zoo in 1999 and the building was renovated to only house sea lions in 2000. ZOO Antwerpen, July 2011.
