ZOO Antwerpen - Hippotopia (Walkthrough Aviary)
The backside of the Wetlands Aviary outside the Hippo House in the Hippotopia theme in ZOO Antwerpen. This part of the aviary is made up of a row of older aviaries where the birds can get some privacy from visitors. This semi-spacious walkthrough aviary features a multitude of various water-dwelling avian species: - Waldrapp (Geronticus eremita) - Scarlet ibis (Eudocimus ruber) - Eurasian spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) - Abdims stork (Ciconia abdimii) - Great egret (Egretta alba) - Southern lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) - Eurasian oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus) - Purple swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) - Giant wood-rail (Aramides ypecaha) - Madagascar teal (Anas bernieri) Hippotopia opened in 2006 and is one of the newest themes in the zoo housing various wetland creatures.
