Zuniceratops christopheri

The holotype specimen of Zuniceratops christopheri is in the paleontology collections at the museum. I actually got to see and photograph the holotype and met one of the authorities that described this species, Dr. Douglas Wolfe. Dr. Wolfe along with Jim Kirkland, a state paleontologist in Utah described this species in 1998. Dr. Wolfe is still a research associate with the Arizona Museum of Natural History, but mostly does field work at a site in the Zuni Basin of northwestern New Mexico near the Arizona state line. The species name christopheri was named after Dr. Wolfe's son and I believe Christopher helped find the holotype when he was a young boy.

There is no real fossil material for this species on public display. What you are looking at in this photo is a cast skeleton (much of it being speculative). Zuniceratops christopheri is the sole species in the genus Zuniceratops, thus Zuniceratops is a monotypic genus.
