According to a post on Knowsley Safari Park's Facebook page, they sent 2:0 African Lions to Longleat in 2010. No further details on them as yet. Hopefully this pair will be future breeding males with Pride B despite the slight relation to most of the females (Knowsley's breeding male, Kenya is ex Longleat)
From what ive heard, 2 new females from other collections are to also join these males, to start up a new pride by the sounds of it. How old is Pride A these days?
Nailsea People | Lioness Louisa leaves zoo near Nailsea for Longleat Louisa, a lioness from Noah's Ark has moved to Longleat. The article states that she will help Longleat to form a new pride.
Glad its finally official! From what I've heard the old girls are apparently not too keen on the new guys, so it looks like a new pride is exactly what is being formed.
Are Longleat planning to bring in more female's and are Noah's Ark bringing in Female's for the brother's?
So far 2 males have come in from Knowsley, And Louisa has come from Noahs Ark, I think another female is coming too. The begginings of a new pride, is a phrase used in the article, so it looks like they will do what they did with Mafui's pride, and retire the old girls from being onshow.
Apparently another three lioness's have arrived from Blackpool today. They are grandaughters to Kabir by their father (Wallace aka Nooky)
Thought this article was interesting, including info on new animals and attractions, such as a walk through meerkat enclosure.... Longleat - a fantastic day out for all the family
Wonder where they are going to put the Cheetah enclosure?? The article doesn't mention any new Gorilla's though so maybe they are planned for the future?
Though this isn't on the current domain yet, Longleat have created a new website packed with info about what's new this year. With what has been said already, I can confirm the 2011 new features from this site as been. - Monkey Jungle reopened, wildebeest and cheetah in the safari park. (The latter appear to be between the lions and wolves) - Jungle Kingdom to include walk-through meerkat enclosure, lorikeet feeding, monkey temple, anteaters, red panda and coati. - Raptor displays run by the Hawk Conservancy to start in Easter. - A new gorilla island (so Nico can stay on his own) for a group of young male gorillas arriving later in the year. - An on-foot fallow deer feeding park - Giraffe Feeding (under pre-booked staff supervision).
The latest mumblings coming out of Longleat are making me very happy. It seems your new exec has some pretty fine ideas and moves in the works. Perhaps this will put Longleat back were it belongs ...
Not sure if its been said already but is the Giant Anteater Bonito, the same Bonito who was at London?
No idea, just looking at the new website on your previous post and it mentions a new 'massive male tiger'
New website says there will ba a Monkey temple in the Jungle Kingdom area. It will feature 30 Monkeys. Does not say what species so maybe Rhesus Macaques. Altough it also mentions the return of Monkey drive thru. Splitting the group maybe?
I think the monkey temple ones will be the marmosets, based on promotional pictures and what's been there before.
