    I'm back in Poland now so when it had warmed up to -11 degrees C by the afternoon, I headed out to my local park to have a look.

    34) Hooded Crow
    35) Nuthatch
    36) Coal Tit
    37) Eurasian Jay
    38) Mandarin Duck
    39) Middle-spotted Woodpecker (surprising to see middle before greater this year!)
    - Also a probable hybrid between Herring and Caspian Gull

    5) Eurasian Red Squirrel
    Sadly I didn't manage to see Roe Deer or Striped Field Mouse - both of which are species that I usually spot.

    A couple of birds seen out and about:

    28. Rook Corvus frugilegus (3.1.2015)
    29. Mute Swan Cygnus olor (5.1.2015)

    I expected to see some other species of mammal/ bird by now, but I don't think local flooding has helped (for example I think I would have at least 10 more birds...).

    Another fourteen birds added to the list on a walk around Heybridge Basin this morning:

    That makes 68 birds and 2 mammals thus far this year, with one Vulnerable species from the IUCN and seven Near Threatened (the above species with redwing, Northern lapwing, black-tailed godwit and European rabbit added).
