I reckon they'd fall under the same category as animals that got into exhibits but aren't able to get out of them again; to which Thylo already said they weren't countable, but some people are counting anyways as some questions regarding that remained unanswered. (unsigned animals in exhibits focusing on native animal species, etc.)

I am of the opinion (although I personally haven't counted them yet, but have kept track of them) that if a species belongs to a collection, regardless of how it got there, it is part of that collection and should be counted as such. Best leave the final call to Thylo indeed, however. :D

But what should be considered 'belonging to a collection'? In this case with Living Coasts the collection has evidently taken note that said species is in the aviary. I could imagine however, even though this probably differs per collection, that their numbers aren't being tracked and/or registered in documents and the like. I imagine things can get a bit tricky if species like this can be counted for the challenge. :p

Also, has anyone else noticed the really stupid error on my part in my previous post (the quoted one)? :p

Yep. I should note that it is the scientific name that is correct and the common name is the error.

I'm beginning to think African golden orioles don't exist- that, and, I spent so long looking for one that I'm still missing a good few native birds.
