Couldn't we include Marsupial Carnivores to give the Aussies a couple more species to work with?

 

I’d find that to be a fairly interesting challenge, actually.

I rather slow start but this will change dramatically in the coming days. I didn't see the bat eared foxes or coati, and the ocelot was off exhibit.

 

Not necessarily. If the challenge was restricted to Carnivora and Dasyuromorphia that would make it doable for Australians (though I think those outside of Australia would still have the advantage) and would give a few more tickable species outside of Australia.

 

I think we'd be talking 9 species* (one of which isn't even held in Australia) and at least 2 others that are also around abroad...


*assuming that there aren't any PNG species in captivity over there

 

Just wondering what the stance on Dingoes/New Guinea Singing Dogs will be for this challenge?

 

But then you'd still be excluding dropbears.

 

I don't think the taxonomy of Thylarctos is fully resolved yet.
