Sorry for the belated introduction. I've been off and on here for awhile and have never properly said hello. I work at the Knoxville Zoo, have for 20+, years, primarily with red pandas. Of course there have been, and are, many other species over the years but they are my first love. So, hello!

    Hello Ailurus,

Knoxville and red pandas are a great success story i belivie congrats.

20 years, I am curious what would be some of the more suprising things you have learnt about them in all that time ?

Have you been to Nuremburgh Zoo? I think they gave the best outdoor red panda exhibit around! Allot of vertical space with visitor viewing platforms in the tree tops.

Also I am contemplating a zoo tour in March 2014 out your way I may just drop in and say hi :)

I have not had the pleasure of visiting the Nuremberg Zoo, although a fellow red panda colleague of mine will be going over there on the spring. I'll make sure she takes lots of pictures. Thanks for the heds up!

Please, let me know if you are in our neck of the woods. I'd be happy to show off our pandas to you :).

Things I've learned about pandas? They can beat a mule when it comes to stubbornness :).

It's great to have a zoo worker on the site, as most of us are just fans. Two of my favorite zoos are in your state - Nashville and Memphis - but I have not made it to Knoxville.
