If Whites it doesn't make for a huge space for a social spp - I guess a couple of cows. Definitely no mixing of other spp. If Indians then it could be split in two, but they would look/be pretty small for each. Cannot see the latter myself, but you never know.

I thought it would be too small myself but I was just going on what it originally said, I'm not sure if there is room to expand it, is the building to the rear of it used for accommodation/offices? Haven't been for a while so can't exactly picture it.

Well just an off the wall suggestion but they could expand out towards the primate house and the camel enclosure

Except that would cut across the main access road in the zoo. I know things have changed in the long time since I have been to BZ ie. new entrance, but I can't imagine they would alter the flow into the (old) front of the zoo.

I am unsure, but I do know that there is going to be elevated viewing and stuff. It was a very brief conversation but I was told a good many other things concerning the plans that the zoo has which I am forbidden from mentioning on this site. All I can say is that Blackpool is certainly going to move up in the world.

The building of this "large barn" has stimulated many other opportunities for the zoo. There will soon be some changes all across the zoo before you know it.

I wonder if the new "breeding herd" will be coming from somewhere in Europe ? Perhaps from another collection already owned by the same company ? Any thoughts ??

I suspect the breeding herd may come from Twycross as they are due to go out of elephants. This has not been confirmed though.

Yes I had thought that initially, but the zoo hinted recently about an "established breeding group" and that they were "completing paperwork" which possibly implied animals from overseas ?

As far as I know, Blackpool`s plans for a breeding herd of elephants are longer "in the go" as Twycross`s plans to move their elephants, so it is likely that Blackpool had already made arrangements to aquire elephants when the Twycross group became availible.
I hoep we will hear more soon!
