Okay, this may seem a little weird to you all or maybe not.

Personally l have always worked exceptionally well under pressure and to a time deadline.

The age of about 4-5 is my earliest memory of wanting my own zoo and l still do-not have one! Strangely when l think about this l am a little surprised as l am very good at working towards getting what l want.

So this may help as mentioned l am good with a deadline.

I will have a zoo in 1000 days from today! 5/6/2013

    Good luck :)

I shall have my own zoo one day (though I started to list the animals I would exhibit and I had at least 60 primate species and far too many cats, bears and dogs [plus all four hyena species]) After that I gave up thinking what I'd have :D

More details would be good, this really does seem extremely odd!

    Hi SL,

    Step 1
    Serious Wealth Creation

    Step 2
Find a ARAZPA accredited zoo with a owner interested in selling

Ideally the zoo has a strong Australian focus, with the potential to or currently has a primate section.

I have visited most of the best zoo's in the world and read every zoo book l have ever been able to find.

With this combined experience l have some ideas on how to display animals.

l believe l can create an environment, that engages people in a manner that leads to a similar respect for animals that l have.

The reason for my deceleration is very simple. I am hoping this pressure and deadline will drive my desired outcome. As l have posted, I have always wanted a zoo and at 44 it has obviously not happened:eek:

The support l would appreciate from zoochat is that you call come on my day of acquisition and pay full price for attendance:D 999 days and counting

Yep it does all sound a bit out there l know.

Out of curiosity - how do you even start with such a project? - but good luck with it anyway and I look forward to hearing of your progress.

Are you most interested in the management and running or the hands on element of zoo keeping?

My reality is that to start this project l need a substantial amount of cash on hand.

I really do find everything about a zoo fascinating although my passion is enrichment.

My plan is to post here every 100 days as l work towards my goal. I have personal financial checkpoints to ensure that l am on track.

    Good luck!

Somebody asked me the other day ...... "how can I get a small zoo?"

My answer ...... "buy a big one and wait!"

I'm curious as to how you plan to achieve "wealth creation" and to what extent, in just 1000 days?

There's a reason that most people don't become rich quickly. It's because it's not that easy to do.

100 days today 900 to go.

    "Step 1
    Serious Wealth Creation"

This part of the plan is on track. Next week l settle on my FIRST real estate purchase [btw this purchase is not the site for a zoo].

Seriously not sure if this has come about because of my Zoo in 1000 days deadline or just a coincidence.

As for the past 40 odd years l still think about my zoo everyday just seems a little more possible today.

funny isn't it but much as I've been interested in zoos from a very early age, and throughout my life, I've never had the slightest desire to own one.

But then I don't like headaches, big or small!

Me, too. I've dreamed about having a quite big collection of exotic animals (and of course some typical, too, like dogs) at home, but that's it. I've always thought that actually opening a complex public institution where caring about the animals is the slightest part when you're the owner, would be too strenuous. If I were the have a zoo, I'd just found it and then I would degrade myself to a zookeeper while employing a competent person to be the director, so I would have more time to my animals without having to bother with economy and the sorts. :p

I have also been planning on starting my own zoo. Perhaps if you succeed, you can show me how you did it. I know what to do after I have the zoo, I just don't know how to get it. Good luck to you!
