ABA Checklist 2017

    Common Shelduck added as Code 4 species.
    Amethyst-Throated Hummingbird added as Code 5 species.
    Pine Flycather added as Code 5 species.
    Cuban Vireo added as Code 5 species.
    Cassia Crossbill is split from Red Crossbil and added as Code 2 species.
    Thayer's Gull is lumped with Herring Gull and removed from the checklist.

    The ABA area covers the US states (formerly just the continental states but now also including the Hawaiian islands), the provinces of Canada, and the French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon (close to Canada). So basically all the birds of North America excepting Mexico.

    The list in the post is those species which have been newly-added to the ABA list through vagrants, splits, and Hawaii.

    The pdf link lists all the species in the ABA area.

    Sorry, this should be Thayer's Gull is lumped with Iceland Gull.
