At the beginning of October 3 Orange-rumped agoutis were born at Walter Zoo .

 

A few days ago a Grey-handed night monkey born .

 

Yesterday Central African chimp female Brigitte was send to Zoo Plzen. She was the only animal of this rare subspecies at Walter Zoo and will be paired with the animals of the same sub-species at Plzen .

 

What is the situation with the chimp group at Walter Zoo at the moment.
Any breeding recommendations for the few Western African chimps (1.3, out of 8.8 - the rest are all hybrids) given out?

2 female Goeldi's marmosets have both given birth to 1 young each .

 

Early this month the construction of the new red panda and Asian small-clawed otter enclosre started, it will be finished in May 2022.

Recently 3 meerkats were born.

Last week the aviary at the entrance has been renovated, this aviary is home to multiple
Sun parakeets (Aratinga solstitialis), Ringed teals (Callonetta leucophrys) and 2 Blue-and-yellow macaws (Ara ararauna) which used to live in the reptile house.

Recently a female Lesser rhea (Rhea pennata) was send to Zoo Leipzig in turn Walter Zoo received a different female from Zoo Leipzig.

Recently the new inhabitants arrived, but are currently kept behind the scences until their new enclosure is finished.
Two red Nepalese red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) came from Opel Zoo.
The Asian small-clawed otters (Aonyx cinerea) came from Zoo Dortmund and Tierpark Hagenbeck. Both are new species for the zoo!

Recently 2 castrated male Bactrian camels arrived at the zoo.

Yesterday female Barbary lion (Panthera leo leo) Ayo was send to Zoo Olomouc.

4 days ago their enclosure was opened!

Recently a Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda) was born, is this a zoo first breeding for Walter Zoo? According to ZTL they have had this species since 2017 and the instagram post mentions that this is the first birth for this breeding pair.

At the start of this month a female Pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) arrived to accompany the already present male.

Recently the pair of South African ostriches (Struthio camelus australis) were send to Parco Zoo Punta Verde (Italy), they were also the last South African ostriches in the zoo. Walter Zoo hopes to increase its zebra herd hence the depature of this species, they hope to welcome this species again in the future.

Last month a male Linnaeus' two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) arrived at the zoo.

In June a Pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) was born, I am not sure whether this is a zoo first breeding for Walter Zoo.

In June 2 Patagonian maras (Dolichotis patagonum) were born.

Recently 5-year old female Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) Yeva was send to Zoo Safari de Peaugres.

Recently alteast 3 Ringed teals (Callonetta leucophrys) hatched.
