This school with a Zoo-licnece ( and a nice collection of animals ) recieved some very special new animals several weeks ago : Scaly-sided merganser. The animals came from Tierpark Berlin and WWT Arundel Wetland Centre and are part of the European Studbook.
Nice breeding result at the Aeres MBO : 2 Chaco woodowl hatched and have been raised succesfully. The young are a male and a female .

Some recent news from Aeres MBO: At the begining of March the zoo received 2 female Crested partridges/Roul-rouls (Rollulus rouloul) from Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen. Aeres now has 1,2 crested patridges. At the end of March the female Chaco owl (Strix chacoensis) was incubating eggs again. On the 7th of April a 5-year old female Victoria crowned-pigeon (Goura victoria) arrived from Artis Zoo, they are now looking for a suitable mate. Aeres MBO used to have a pair of Sclater`s crowned-pigeons (Goura sclateri), the male sadly died in an accident and the female was moved to Cologne Zoo. In May atleast 3 Swift parrots (Lathamus discolor) hatched. Somewhere this year a Blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) hatched. In October MBO Barneveld received 6 Zebra plecos (Hypancistrus zebra). In October 2 White-cheeked turacos (Tauraco leucotis leucotis) hatched. At the start of this week Aeres received a new species from Diergaarde Blijdorp, namely Finescale splitfins (Allodontichthys polylepis).
