A Grevy’s zebra foal has been born: Alabama Safari Park announces birth of it's first Grevy's zebra The Alabama Safari Park announced the birth of the zoo's first Grevy's zebra named Yala. The mother, Yogi, and the new baby are together exploring the 350-acre drive through zoo. Grevy's zebra are the world's largest zebra species and are considered endangered, with fewer than 3,000 individuals remaining in the wild and approximately 200 living in the United States.
In 2022, the zoo had more Grevy's Zebra births, two females. Alabama Safari Park announces Birth of Two Female Grevy's Zebras They also began exhibiting Two-toed Sloths and Giant Anteaters, per their website.
