Wild Dogs going to perth & new pack for Altina It's A Dog's Life! 3 of the Altina born, highly endangered African Wild Dogs will soon be calling Perth Zoo in WA home! Being the youngest viable breeding males in Australasia, Hasani, Bwana & Kondo have been chosen to join 3 Perth females, to help increase the probability of breeding this rapidly declining species. On top of this incredible transfer Altina has also been selected to hold a second breeding pack! This will consist of, 3 other 2yr old, Altina born sisters and Altina's current bachelor pack!
Ringtail lemurs! Media release ALTINA’S GIRLS LIKE TO MOVE IT! MOVE IT! If you have seen the Movie Madagascar that’s exactly the island this Lemur is from! The Ring-tailed Lemur is the most recognized lemur due to its long, black and white ringed tail. Despite reproducing readily in captivity and being the most popular lemur in zoos worldwide, the ring-tailed lemur is listed as endangered by the IUCN Red List due to habitat destruction, hunting for bush meat and the exotic pet trade. Altina now hold 2 females with our own “King Julian” due to arrive next year. “ALLINA” & “IPOLLO” have settled in extremely well on Altina’s brand new Primate Island and are already hand feeding from keepers and getting up to mischief! Altina are one of the few private zoos to hold this awesome animal and are proud to be members of this exciting Australasian breeding program! See below the Lemur’s Complex diet!
