Animal romances

    So Facebook is awash with pictures of animals having Valentine's Day romances or 'enrichment'. This is a perfect example of how the public is led to anthropomorphise the animals which they will be criticised about, for not being 'scientific' when it suits zoos to send their beloved animals away!

    This is definitely wanting to have your cake (or chocolate) and eat it.

    It's a fine line between having people becoming attached enough to animals that they want to return to visit, adopt, donate etc ... but then not attached enough to kick up a fuss should any decisions be made which involve moving the animal to another collection or putting the animal to sleep. Seems like they want the best of both worlds but it doesn't work like that ...
