I thought I'd start a thread where people could list the top 10 animals they wanted to see (and haven't already seen). Here's mine: 1. Duck-billed platypus 2. Mandrill 3. Koala 4. Asian Rhinoceros (any kind) 5. Echidna (any kind) 6. Manatee 7. Saltwater Crocodile 8. Bonobo 9. Kakapo 10. Kiwi
Wow, I can boast a few of yours (Mandrill, koala, Indian rhino, bonobo). For me: 1) Javan rhinoceros 2) Sumatran rhinoceros 3) Mountain gorilla 4) Giant panda 5) Kakapo 6) West-Indian manatee 7) Walrus 8) Beluga 9) Orca 10) Duck-billed platypus (also, but no room, would like to mention Tasmanian devil )
I've seen echidnas, koalas, platypus', saltwater crocs, mandrills and an indian rhino but I'd really like to see: -okapi -boto (or any other river dolphin) -flamingo -fossa -pangolin -aardvark -any species of hyaena -crowned crane -a sifaka -a manatee

Sooo difficult to choose just 10, but mines are (camera in my hand, of course): Dall's porpoise Giant ibis Marbled cat Narwhal Numbat Pygmy sperm whale Ribbon seal Saola Southern right whale dolphin Vaquita
I have seen 9 out of 10 species on the original list (only missing the kakapo). I might as well make a list as well. If anyone knows the easiest way to see any of the species listed in zoos (say, as close to Canada as possible), feel free to tell me. Any hammerhead shark species (not bonnethead) Numbat Emperor penguin Any species of pangolin Harpy eagle Brown or striped hyena Either species of elephant seal Either species of monk seal Vervet monkey Gerenuk -TheWalrus
Mountain Nyala Northern White Rhinoceros Hirola Saiga Saola Beira Giant Sable Dibatag Himalayan Serow Lowland Bongo
1 Whale shark 2 Okapi 3 Blue throated maccaw 4 Palm cockatoo 5 Kiwi 6 Orca 7 Mandril 8 Tasmanian devil 9 Platypus 10 Tentacle snake (forgot the name)
I've seen all of these, except the kakapo I haven't seen the Javan rhinoceros and kakapo, but I have seen the Tasmanian devil I haven't seen a pangolin I don't remember seeing numbers 4-6. This is the best list so far. I haven't seen any of them and I wonder if I'll ever see any of them I've seen all of them I haven't seen a number or pangolin and I don't think I've seen an emperor penguin Another good list I have seen the northern white rhinoceros and saiga, but I'm not sure about the lowland bongo I haven't seen the whale shark. It's good that I've seen some species that other Zoochatters haven't, but I realise that some Zoochatters have seen animals that I am very unlikely to see and that I have been unlucky in not seeing zoo rarities, despite visiting some enclosures several times - Paris Vincennes' hairy-eared dwarf lemur springs to mind and I remember visiting Howletts, where one of my party went behind the scenes and saw a marbled cat. I only found out about that later.
I was so lucky that I made the grade And though the views were rather bad Well, I just had to laugh I took a photograph They stuck their tongues out of their mouths And put them in a mass of minced meat and the like A crowd of people stood and stared They'd never seen the beasts before Nobody was really sure if they were from the House of Lords * * Remember the original was by the Beatles, not the Termites, a rather less successful band that was not popular in wooden concert halls.
1 Saiga 2 Indri 3 Adelie penguin 4 Emperor penguin 5 Javan rhinoceros 6 Sumatran rhinoceros 7 Any pangolin species 8 Either elephant seal 9 Any river dolphin 10 Whale shark
The list goes as such 1. Any living squid 2. Any baleen whale 3. Any Leopard subspecies 4. Any Tree Kangaroo species 5. Any Pangolin species 6. Harpy Eagle 7. Moose 8. Greater Roadrunner 9. Arctic Wolf 10. Arctic Fox 11. Red-legged serima (probably gonna see that soon) 12. Koala (probably gonna see that soon) 13. Lesser adjutant 14. Arabian Oryx 15. Caracal 16. Pallas Cat 17. Wildcat 18. Black-Backed Jackel 19. Asiatic Dhole 20. Tasmanian Devil 21. Platypus 22. Sea Otter 23. EVERYTHING ELSE!!!
I can for some of them: Emperor Penguin: SeaWorld San Diego Pangolin: Tree Pangolin on show at Brookfield and Memphis. Striped Hyena: At several US zoos. Farthest north might be DeYoung. Elephant Seal: Northern at Pittsburgh. Monk Seal: Hawaiian at Minnesota Zoo. Vervet Monkey: Semi-common in US zoos, though they seem to be disappearing. Gerenuk: Closest to Canada might be Brookfield.
