PG, what does your employer do for conservation and helping animals besides taking in phase-out species? What message does riding elephants send? How can it be so popular and have more guests in half a year than most Zoos in the region? While charging what they do and all the carney goodies on the side, yet most of the exhibits are far from decent? It doesn't add up. The amount of money made before all operational costs, feed and so on. There's a giant mysterious hole in the budget if exhibits look the same. You would think they'd invest in their exhibits and night/winter housing vs. piling animals into same ark/barn-type building for the winter. But it is ok to “rent" elephants for rides? Does that make sense? Yes, some zoos rent camels, but moving camels is far easier than elephants. Are the elephants given some form of medication to keep them “happy"? So they don't rage and hurt the trainers or guests? Surely, it is cool to be hooked while carrying delighted guests, right? I don't see the need to have such a “ride" if the animal(s) are medicated and hooked daily. Does that sit well with you? Please don't deny the medicating or hooking, as those who know, that it is the only way it will happen. It's probably in fine print in the contract or their lawyers and insurance companies don't care. That is, if they have either of those.
