There are off exhibit facilities like Parc Assango. The Centre de Primatologie is one the largest primate research facilities in Africa. In 1983, the first gorilla born in captivity in Africa was here.

Might be worthwhile to have an update on the Centre de Primatologie

Is the Centre de Primatologie part of the Centre International de Recherches Medicales at Franceville where in 1989 the first Sun-tailed monkey worldwide was bred ?

I was about to say "that doesn't sound right - the species was only discovered in 1984", but in fact it is correct. They still house the only (semi-)captive group in the world, established in 1986. I wouldn't mind visiting that.
