The aquarium at London zoo has sent out an appeal to fish keepers around the world. The zoo currently holds 2 males of the critically endangered Mangaraharan cichlid from Madagascar, so far only another male at the aquarium at Zoo Berlin has been found. Anyone with information about the cichlids should email the ZSL London Zoo team at [email protected]. Zoo issues rare fish mating appeal - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
This is probably no help as the site is old but you never know. Do you think this would be any help to them? Ptychochromis sp. mangarahara
I´m quite optimistic they should be able to find some. Chiclids are very populair fishes and most species are bred quite succesfull. In countries like the USA, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium many spezialized breeders occur and I´m almost sure some still have Mangarahara chiclids !
Great news! The campaign was successful, and has resulted in a wild colony being found in Madagascar. 18 have now been moved to a facility on Madagascar to promote captive breeding. https://www.zsl.org/zsl-london-zoo/...s-last-remaining-madagascan-fish,1162,NS.html
