The best news for this carnivore species this year! Was originally already planned for mid / late 2013! Female, Zuri (Mulhouse2010 Sita X Jetpur) at Dublin gave birth to a single male cub earlier in the Summer. The cub is now 8 weeks old and has just gone on show. Praha Zoo received the remaining Magdeburg breeding group (and offspring). Magdeburg Zoo has gone out of Asiatic lions as we speak.
There must be still one female offspring in zoo Magdeburg? There was a triplet in 2013 - one goes to Jerusalem and one with their parents to zoo Prague.
Whilst I too am pleased to see another collection going into a pure African ssp (though much less so if it is indeed whites), it is something of a disappointment to see one of Europe's prolific breeders in recent times going out of the species.
