The best news for this carnivore species this year! Was originally already planned for mid / late 2013!

I believe part and parcel of the loan out by Singapore was that there should be more offspring from their Hyderabad zoo line - and the same set of cubs - coming into European zoos (f.i. rumours about Rotterdam - Blijdorp ...).

Female, Zuri (Mulhouse2010 Sita X Jetpur) at Dublin gave birth to a single male cub earlier in the Summer. The cub is now 8 weeks old and has just gone on show. Father is male, Kumar (Edinburgh2006 Kamlesh X Royal) who arrived from Rotterdam in 2012. The cub also represents a first breeding in Ireland Asian lion cub born at Dublin Zoo - RT Ten

New arrivals at Jerusalem - female, Aisha (Bristol2001KamalXMoti) has arrived from Praha this week along with one of the Magdeburg 2013 triplets

Jerusalem's previous female, Ilenia is confirmed as having passed away in June. The transfer of Aisha from Praha as well also leaves them without the species for now

Praha Zoo received the remaining Magdeburg breeding group (and offspring). Magdeburg Zoo has gone out of Asiatic lions as we speak.

African lions, but they do not want generic zoo lions.

Good news, then :) they will fit in well with the area of the zoo where the enclosure is situated.

There must be still one female offspring in zoo Magdeburg? There was a triplet in 2013 - one goes to Jerusalem and one with their parents to zoo Prague.

Whilst I too am pleased to see another collection going into a pure African ssp (though much less so if it is indeed whites), it is something of a disappointment to see one of Europe's prolific breeders in recent times going out of the species.

Female, Roberta (B04/2013 Kalindi X Parys) is confirmed to have now moved from Magdeburg to Edinburgh. She replaces Kamlesh (Chester 08/1997 Chandani X Jake) who died over the Summer

Dublin have today announced the birth of a single female cub who was born in August to Sita (Mulhouse2010 Sita X Jetpur) and Kumar (Edinburgh2006 Kamlesh X Royal) This is the 2nd litter for Dublin following the birth of male, Kuno in May

The Besancon triplets (born in August) are now sexed as 2.1. They've also been named - the female is Sakura whilst the boys are Aya and Saiko. Their father, Tejas is not being mixed with them following the issues with earlier litters and himself

In other news - A new holder has joined the eep in the form of Montpellier, France. They have now received the three female cubs from Budapest's 2013 litters. Sisters, Salima and Surina, along with there half sister, Kiran.

The four male cubs from these litters are still in Budapest for now (so current number at Budapest are 5.2)

He turned on one of them and killed her - a 2nd was then killed by the mother (Shiva) a couple of days after (believed to be a result of the stress) resulting in the 3rd having to be removed and housed away from the adults.

Male, Aslan (B15/2/2013) left Budapest in November for Parken, Sweden. He replaces the previous Parken male, Kaya (B1999 at Dudley) who has passed away

The two male cubs from Parken's last litter also appear to have gone elsewhere (destination not clear atm)

In other news, the Mulhouse cubs have got names - the females are Isha and Kharia whilst the males are now known as Shapur and Kajal
