A male red panda cub has been born. His mother rejected him and he's been hand reared the past few weeks. I wonder if it would be possible to bring him to Toronto to be fostered by their new mom Ila along side her female cub who is being reared by both her and staff. Might help the new guy socialize. But since the female cub is struggling maybe its not in the cards if it even is possible. It would be neat to have Suva's little brother be reared with his daughter. https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1770894403781
The red panda cub who has been dubbed Little Red for now has had a set back. He has aspiration pneumonia and is back to tube feeding while he fights his illness as well as obviously getting antibiotics and supplemental oxygen. Poor little fella. Life has yet to be kind to him.
Red panda cub, Little Red, has lost his battle with pneumonia. My heart really goes out to his keepers and vets. They have battled around the clock for 7 weeks to save him and were hoping he could pull off a miracle for them. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/little-red-panda-cub-dies-winnipeg-assiniboine-zoo-1.5697772
Nooo, I was tuned with his progress and thought he was going to make it. So sad My condolences to the red panda keepers at the zoo.

Niagara Safari Forum mentions that the Stevensville zoo is due to receive snow leopard 'Akar' from Assiniboine. Akar was originally known as 'Henry James' and was born at Tulsa on 8 June 2010, moving to Winnipeg on 26 Oct 2011. As I understand it Batu and Kaash are also set to move, with Kita arriving from Toronto as a breeding partner.
