Seems like another nice addition to the park. Especially pleased with tree kangaroos and cassowary (the latter is even at risk in northern Australia).
A baby giraffe has been born on Tuesday August 14th to mum Rosie, a third time mother after a 15 month gestation. The calf’s gender is yet to be confirmed. Baby giraffe welcomed to the world at Australia Zoo
I don’t really know when it’s happening but I think they are demolishing an extra 10 acres for the build Ps it was my birthday on the 15 of August
At the rate of progress there it is unlikely to ever happen, The ten year plan which I believe started in 2006 has only seen so far stage one built with stage two and three yet to happen I would be quite surprised if anything happened for quite so time thing appear to be in a very slow mode. Happy Birthday
Two baby Ring-tailed Lemurs have been born two weeks ago I believe its the zoos second birth for the species!
Australia zoo has welcomed yet another baby giraffe calf to mother Penny. Twitter Just a side note but I noticed that Australia zoo is having such a giraffe baby boom recently. Considering they have only got 3 breeding females! I’m sure they have around 10 calf’s now in their herd with the first being born in late 2013.
They are doing well with this species also all young to date have been females with two of them being sent to the Darling Downs zoo
Australia Zoo welcomes our newest giraffe calf This is Australia Zoo’s second male giraffe calf, the first one (Sunny), was born late 2017 (I can also confirm this as I went to Australia Zoo earlier this year). I can’t keep up with how many giraffes they are breeding these days, hope Darling Downs Zoo will start breeding their giraffe soon (however the trio are still quite young).
Your quite right it is hard to keep up with all the giraffe births. Darling Downs will breed their Trio when they are mature a little young at this time. Interesting to read on Australia zoos website they are still stating progress is "Going full steam ahead" which I find somewhat funny since it was stated they were going to build the zoo in their ten year plan which I believe started in 2006, Now in 2018 its still just stage one completed, I believe Bindi Island was only completed with a government grant.
For those of you in australia, do you also get their new tv show there, or is it just airing in the US? I'm curious to hear what your opinion on it is, vs actual visits to the zoo, local press, etc.
