For those who maybe interested in the development at Australia zoo, the latest exhibit will be opening at easter time. Other developments are going to be the Southeast asia exhibit including the new tiger temple.

The zoo is planning the worlds biggest Gorilla enclosure ( WOW ).

Another exhibit planned is the American river exhibit with Alligators with a boat ride along the river.

The plans are a large range of Afican animals for the Africa exhibit (no details).

I wonder where the gorillas are going to come from? The two troops in Australia at the moment are unrelated so it could be possible to get young animals from them. Oh except that the young females from taromga are going overseas.

What is the new exhibit that is opening at Aust. Zoo?

    Cassowarys

For those of you that are interested in birds Australia zoo now have six Cassowarys, three males & three females. If all three pairs do breed this should boost the number of chicks wanted for other zoo collections or maybe release into select areas in the north.

Some news for those interested in the progress at Australia zoo the new South east Asian and Madagascan exhibit will be 60 acres in size, not a bad size.

I visited Australia zoo on Monday. Very enjoyable day out. The tiger temple is really good, one of the sumatran tigers was roaming really close to the glass front. Would have had some great photos (damn camera stopped working right then. By the time I fixed it tiger was lazing around in the back.)
Lots of room for the tigers and like at Dreamworld keepers are constantly in there with them.
The eles anclosure is getting there, still a way to yet.
They are getting two male otters, probably from Auckland and are creating a huge exhibit for them over near the tiges. Really enjoyed the bird show.

    Hey Guys,
This is just a guess but I'd say Australia Zoo will probably get the gorillas from Howllet's. Steve had a very close bond with the owner and also with a fwe of the Gorillas there. Howllets is also the only place I know of that would break up the family groups (their young western lowlands get sent back to africa) I think most zoos in Australia will hold onto very tightly any gorillas they have. John Stainton the other day said the zoo is developing very fast and the elephant enclosure will be open soon. The zoo is spending in excess of $40,000,000. to expand the park
