Name some of the sequels from cinematic classics or regular movies that you don't like, maybe the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 or whatever
Any Jurassic Park after the first one; Any Ice Age or Shrek sequel; Blade Trinity; The Star Wars prequels; X-Men Last Stand and X-Men Apocalypse............ I could go on but I don't want to as it's just depressing how unoriginal Hollywood actually is now!
A list for good sequels would be far shorter. When did sequels become common? Did films of the 60's have sequels?
Lion King original: one of the best cartoon movies ever. Lion King 2: Awful!!! Lord of the Rings trilogy: the BEST movie ever! The Hobbit trilogy: I was so defraudated that I didn't go to cinema to see the third movie
Kingsman: The Golden Circle Anyone who's read the movie review thread knows my thoughts on Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom ~Thylo
Some of the ones I can think of are Independence Day: Resurgence, Mulan 2, Son of the Mask, Dumb and Dumber 2, Batman and Robin, Batman v Superman, Spiderman 3, Jaws the Revenge, The Hangover Part 3, and Evan Almighty.
I don't think Batman v Superman was a sequel to Man of Steel. If anything Justice League is a sequel to it. ~Thylo
I watched the Honest Trailer for it a while back, and when it got to the bit with the hybrid dino winking and smiling at the camera (while that guy was trying to steal a tooth) I was just like "????!!?" I am never going to watch the movie itself. (The Pitch Meeting video of it is really good too)
I couldn't believe what I was watching. That's probably the lowest point of the whole film, though there are a lot of moments that aren't much better. Pitch Meetings are almost always great! @Brum sent me the CinemaSins EWW for JW the other day, too, which I found to be surprisingly light on sins for a series that regularly sins compliments it gives to movies. ~Thylo
Is there one good straight-to-video Disney sequel? Hell, how many straight-to video sequels are there?
The general consensus seems to be that the most solid direct-to-video Disney sequels are Lion King 2, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, and Cinderella 3. Even though I haven't seen all of them, I think it's a safe bet to say that none of them are as good as or better than the movies they're based on.
I don't know what is a "straight-to" video, but maybe is one of the better for you. It lacks everything that makes Lion King 1 the magnific movie that it was. It's just horrible and I never would recommend anyone to see it.
Straight to video just refers to the fact that it wasn't released in theaters and just got a home video/DVD release. Lion King 2 certainly isn't as good as the original, but I'd still watch it over, say Cinderella 2 or Little Mermaid 2.
You obviously haven't read the Movie Review Rant thread! All I'm going to say is "Alan" and leave it there!
