1.1 Giant Anteaters have recently arrived - the male came from Amneville at the end of September and was joined by a female from Lisbon last week
La Barben is building a new tiger exhibit. The new enclosure will be 4.000 square meters large with an underwater viewing. The park will receive Amur tigers. They will share the space with a white tiger bring from a seizure.
Some recent news : - future arrival of two sumatran tigers sisters from Dublin (for the new enclosure), - births of fennec foxes (second consecutive year), brazilian tapir, giant anteater and red-necked wallabys twins. Thank you Nisha. My mistake. I was thinking about Fota and not Dublin (but I confirm they are coming from Dublin).
The female Brazilian Tapir has been named Peepa!! On May 7th, Teddy the Brown Bear passed away in his sleep. Here is the story of Teddy: Zoo de La Barben Not mentioned here but in April, a female maned wolf named Averna arrived from a zoo in England where she was born in 2017. She is intended to breed with male Picasso. On May, 2 Barn Owls were born.
Have the Amur tigers already arrived at La Barben? And does anybody know when the new tiger exhibit will be open?
In this article https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.la...c-zoologique-a-pu-rouvrir-ses-portes.html?amp it was said that the two females were due to arrive at the end of may and the enclosure has to be opened for june 15th. There was no info since then confirming the arrival. Maybe the transfer was delayed for some days ?!
The new amur tigers exhibit will open tomorrow. A video of the first outing of the tigers in their new enclosure was posted yesterday : https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=321926242158374
The two amur tiger sisters share their habitat with a male white tiger born last year, called Tsaghan. He was hold by a private owner and was seized by the authorities who placed him at the park.
