The following measurements are taken from the published plans for the sun bear exhibit. Indoor show den 89 m², six off-show dens 6 to 8 m² (remember that this enclosure could hold binturongs as well as the sun bears), right hand outdoor area 1500 m² and left hand outdoor area 950 m².
I've seen polar, brown, black, sun, sloth, and Andean bears. I want to see giant pandas. In the wild I've seen black and brown (grizzly) bears.
I think the most interesting bear exhibit in captivity would have to be the kermode bear at British Columbia Wildlife Park: 2.7 Acre Kermode Bear Exhibit - see the bear? | ZooChat This is a white morph of the American black bear and is the only one in captivity worldwide. Here in the States it is relatively easy to see all eight species in captivity, which I have done and I am sure several other members have done. Over the course of the last year I have also seen American black and Alaskan brown in the wild. Black bear in Sequoia National Park July 2017, brown bear in Denali National Park September 2016 (both at very close range). Best exhibits I have personally seen: Chester Zoo, UK (spectacled bear) Northwest Trek, USA (Am black bear, Grizzly bear)
The UK's best ever bear exhibit may have been the Himalayan black bear exhibit at Glasgow, which I saw a few months before the zoo closed. It was a wooded hillside and covered 1.6 hectares. It won a UFAW award in 1989 and was described in IZYB volume 29.
I think, I saw all of the recent species of bears: - American black bear (Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, Arnheim) - Spectacled bear (Dortmund, Duisburg, Frankfurt, Berlin, etc.) - Sri-lankan sloth bear (Zoo Berlin) - Polar bear (Duisburg, Cologne, Münster, Wuppertal, Gelsenkirchen, Blijdorp, etc.) - European Brown bear (Gelsenkirchen, Zoo in der Wingst) - Grizzly (Cologne) - Giant Panda (Berlin, Pairi Daiza) - Indian sloth bear (Berlin, Leipzig, Beekse Bergen) - Kamchatkan brown bear (Gelsenkirchen, Hagenbeck, Duisburg long time ago) - Kodiak bear (Gelsenkirchen, Wuppertal, Münster, Duisburg, Circus) - Asian black bear (Gelsenkirchen, Berlin, Frankfurt) - Sun bear (Arnheim, Cologne, Münster, Berlin) - Syrian brown bear (Münster, Gelsenkirchen) I like the polar bear enclosure at Blijdorp, also the ones for spectacled bears in Antwerp, Frankfurt and Duisburg.

Although I have high hopes for the The Alaska Zoo's upcoming renovation. I've also been fortunate enough to see all three North American bears in the wild: Polar Bears along Alaska's northern coast.
