At a guess, Giant Day Gecko (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis) - I'm sure Al will confirm!

At least both are home now, working hard as the telegraph says!:D
Can't wait to see the Gecko. I take it the reptile house will open again with the geckos arrival?

Yes a pair of giant day gecko which will be mixed in one of our exhibits! The reptile house was opened for easter but still has a few finishing touches to be made!

Good news about Lily, the Barbary lioness, that went last year to Hodonin zoo /Czech rep. After she met her new partner Simon, they moved to Olomouc where she became a good mother of two cubs (they are 2 weeks old now).

Actually Izzy is more of an Isambard as he was incorrectly sexed :-S His name sticks though as the keepers that did that sexed weren't sure 'izzy a boy or a girl'

So any more news from the zoo?
Hoping to get up there soon, early in the morning on my own for a walk about! It's better that way.

Any hopes of a baby sifaka anywhere soon? Her last offspring was 2008, so hopefully she'll be pregnant again, or soon...

1 more female would make such a difference to this species outlook...

A youngster was born spring last year - i think it might have been a male. However, it was rejected and subsequently hand-reared but unfortunately did not survive...
