News from Belfast this morning - the UK's first Goodfellow's tree kangaroo has been born to mother Jaya. Although keepers noticed movement in her pouch on May 1st, only in recent weeks has the baby started peeking from the pouch.

    Information and pictures on Facebook.

Oh people, am I happy for both zoo staff and the European program. It is far from easy establishing a compatible pairing these days.
Have we know cracked the nut?

Well done Belfast a cracking result, hopefully we see a few more potential UK holders encouraged by this success.

Dare I suggest it would be nice to have Golden Jackal return to the UK after several decades of absence? :p

Dhole or Iberian Wolf are more likely though.

If only seven Zoos in Europe have this species, there is certainly a skew toward the UK with four(?) of our Zoos having them- London, Twycross, Colchester, Belfast. Is there a fifth- Howletts/PL?
