Can't say about zoos in India - but Bandhavgarh National Park in Madya Pradesh (central India) is almost certainly your best bet to see a wild tiger. It's a small park with a very high concentration of tigers and thus it is the go-to park for professional wildlife photographers in India. At times it does get extremely crowded, and therefore you can find yourself in the less than ideal situation where there are 10-15 vehicles surrounding a single tiger. I visited Bandhavgarh for a couple days to give myself the best possible chance to see a tiger, and then spent more time in the beautiful Kanha National Park to the south. While tiger sightings are more rare in Kanha, overall it's a far better and more authentic experience. The other premier park for wild tiger sightings is Kaziranga in far eastern India, a bit more difficult to get out there - but it's also a good place to see wild rhinos.
