Well as a "sequel" to this thread, below I challenge you to name the best and worst exhibits you've seen for individual species. The idea is simple, first name the best exhibit you've seen for a species of your choice(Along with a reason and preferably a photo) then do the same for the worst exhibit for that same species. To get the ball rolling, I'll start.

    Elephant Best: North Carolina Zoo
Reason: A massive 7 acres of space in large rolling plains, big grassy areas and up close visitor opportunities.

Elephant Worst: Deslong Park Zoo Daegu
Reason: The picture speaks a thousand words.

I knew people would just love that second photo ;). The Deslong Park Zoo is a really awful little place right in the middle of the name sake Deslong park, in Daegu, South Korea. The entire zoo is filled with abysmal exhibits. Lions, tigers, bears (Grizzly and Sun), wolves, vultures, peafowl, jaguars, chimps, owls, zebras and farm animals all in god awful exhibits

Here is a brief view of some of the exhibits, including the ENTIRE elephant exhibit (Which you see 95% of above).

EDIT - Also I just have to say, the rabbits that are labeled as guinea pigs really set the tone for the place your about to see.

Wow, that really didn’t make for pleasant viewing. That poor little sun bear looked so sad, so bored and so despondent.

Detroit's new penguin exhibit is the best I've seen.

While this zoo is awful, it's not the saddest zoo in the world. There are more horrible ones, and one was featured in Zoochat before, in a thread about marbled cats if I remember well, it's called the "one-eyed hunter" zoo as it's owner have half face destroyed, and it have all animals in tiny cages (much smaller than the ones in your video), the ones that dies (I figure that none animal here can live for long) are stuffed and preserved in the office room, and maybe the worst of all was seeing the owner shaking as strongly as he can the board of the loris enclosure for make it move (there are no branches, just one board).

So, every species of that "one-eyed hunter zoo" have the worst exhibit for their species in the world, probably. Now find the best exhibit for each one.

Oh, I know very well that this far from the world's worst zoo. As abysmal as Deslong Park zoo is, there unfortunately some even nastier places out there such as this one-eyed hunter place. I did some research and found very little about this strange little zoo. It had an albino fishing cat in a cage the size of a larger dog crate and had many other cats in metal cages identical to one another.

However, I'd be hard pressed to find an elephant exhibit worse then the one above.

Best: I haven't seen many but I think Chester is great outdoors not as good indoors but still not bad.

    Worst: Abidjan Zoo, Ivory Coast.

Just so you know, you can do places you have not visited. I know there are certainly better chimp exhibits then Chester.

I know but I haven't seen many pics of chimp exhibits but i mainly just felt the need to show the terrible one because of how awful it is. Could you maybe give examples of better ones?

Kansas City, Dallas, Busch Gardens, Leipzig and maybe Lincoln Park and/or Detroit. There's probably many European zoos I'm forgetting.

That Abidjan Zoo chimp popped up for me yesterday; very sad sight :(
Beauval, Gelsenkirchen and Beeks Bergen off the top of my head have better chimp exhibits than Chester

Thank you for this! Taipei looks quite exciting and certainly has a fair bit of nice enrichment for my sunny pals to explore!
