I'm wondering if anyone else is as confused as I am about whether to vote for the image that is best photographically or the image that features the most interesting/rarely photographed species.

At the moment it looks like the winner is locked in; all that remains to be determined is which photograph taken by them gets the title :p

Even though the rules say you can vote for your own photo, I hope people have the decency not to do it. I certainly did not.

I thought the voters names appeared if you clicked on the entries, but they don't. I'm sure the feature was pointed out in another poll ... may have been another forum

Yes as far as I know that has never been a feature of ZooChat polls.

I am sure that I have seen something like this. I remember in the Zoochat Cup thread I can view who vote for which zoo.

Glad I could take part in voting! Also, has anyone else noticed that photos by @Neva have more than half of all votes combined? In addition, 3 members (@Neva , @ZooGirlSD , and @ro6ca66 ) have two photos each for voting, which is two thirds of all the nominated photos. Lastly, congrats to all who participated in any way (photo nomination, people who added the nominated photos to this site, and those who voted)!

That'll be it ... someone mentioned it in the cup last year.

There is an option when you first create the poll which determines whether votes are displayed publicly or not.

Personally I would prefer that option disabled completely - I don't feel there is ever a reason for votes to be made public. The only exception there is within a closed group (eg in a business or organisation) where people are using polls to make and record decisions.

It turned out to be a useful feature in the ZooCup: the onus was on defending your position and people could see who was voting and not posting and call them out on it. It definitely seems like something that will typically cause some amount of conflict but as the above example shows that isn't always a bad thing.
