I remember going to African Lion Safari this summer and being amazed at just how many Birds of Prey there were. All lined up in a row too! Stunning variety, although the exhibits leave a lot to be desired.

The Carolina Raptor Center sounds like a worthwhile visit for a large number of species!

As of a few years ago, and I assume still true, the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City, had California Condors

This is a pretty good list! What are the rough dates on it though? Trying to keep the species list current within the last two years at least.

Very curious about these two species in particular, do you have dates? Both of these species only have one listed holder so far, if these are recent would be nice to add!

    Wedge-tailed eagle
    Milwaukee County Zoo

    Lesser yellow-headed vulture
    Niabi Zoo

Milwaukee no longer keeps Wedge-Tailed Eagles. When they did, they were on loan from the World Bird Sanctuary.

The Hogle Zoo had a Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture in its bird show. Not sure if it still does.

If it was while ago, I doubt they still do. Many bird show birds travel around the country doing shows, many of which live at World Bird Sanctuary in the off-season.

Their bird show was run by a local outfit and the birds in the program were acquisitioned into the zoo's collection.

Then it's possible the bird still may be there.

I just ran across a species list for St. Augustine Alligator Farm while doing some other research, and they list Swallow-tailed Kite! Anyone happen to have more information on this? If true they would be the only holder I'm currently aware of.

I can't speak for st.augustine, but I know world bird sanctuary should have a swallow tailed kite as well. I'll put out some feelers and try and find out for you later today :)

Also another addition, Calgary Zoo and the BC Wildlife Park both hold large amounts of Burrowing Owls at their off site breeding centres as well.

Thanks! I had heard Swallow-tailed Kites didn't tend to adjust well to captivity, so they were very rarely kept. Whether that's true I'm not sure, but I had looked up Swallow-tailed Kites in captivity before and hadn't found much that time or when I put together this list.

Denver has cinereous vultures, Andean condors, and secretary birds.

Cheyenne Mountain has Swainson's hawk (off exhibit) and red-tailed hawk (off exhibit). They also do indeed have 0.1 Eurasian griffon vulture who goes out with the cape vultures. She is one of only 2 in the US. I do not know where the other one is.
