From a visit last weekend I can confirm the red squirrels have gone and been replaced by eclectus(?) parrots and silky bantams. There is now a barn owl in with the pheasants as well, not sure how long that's been the case though?

Barn owl has been there for a while it was there when I visited earlier this year, shame the squirrels have gone I didn't see them on my last trip still I'm all for new species coming on show.

    Hi all.
As Brum stated above, Red Squirrels have left the collection. In their former enclosure are a pair of Eclectus Parrots, a Blue-Winged Macaw and a trio of Silkie Bantams.

The Barn Owl has been in with the Reeves's Pheasants for a number of years now.

Didn't notice the macaw and totally failed to see the bantams.

Has the barn owl always been signed and am I just blind?

From memory, the Barn Owl has been signed since we got our new signage about 2 years ago. It was on-show with no sign for probably about a year before that.

The Tragopan passed away earlier this year.

Have the Jumping Rats moved onto another collection or did they die out?

A little note from my last visit on Saturday, the sheep now seem to be mixed with the sitatunga when they where not on my last visit to the collection.

Female ocelot Scu left BWCP last week for Camperdown Wildlife Centre. A young female will be arriving soon to form a breeding pair with resident male, George.

That's good, cause I saw it posted on Facebook yesterday and I was thinking "Don't they still have another ocelot in there?" but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to ask them about it or not.

Either way it's a goob job they still have one at least. :)

Did they not get on or is she past breeding age? I was told by a keeper early on that they would eventually be together but that never happened so I was wondering what the deal was.

Hi Devi. Scu was past breeding age, so made way for a young female. Said young female arrived last week and is currently settling in, on-show in Scu's old enclosure.

Makes sense. Fingers crossed for babies one day. If it happens I might have to come and camp out by their enclosure for a while.
